Firstly, I want the viewer to sink into the exquisite complexity and beauty of flowers, nothing but flowers! Secondly, the circular composition represents the Earth, and if you've never heard the song, "Nothing But Flowers" by the Talking Heads, I highly recommend it! This drawing is a depiction of how nature has the power to reclaim the Dairy Queens, 711s, and parking lots which they speak about in the song. There is approximately 35 hours of work in the original 13" x13" drawing. The original drawing was completed with Copic art markers and Sakura pens on 100lb Fabriano Bristol Vellum which allowed me to achieve the depth of colour saturation and contrast that I was aiming to achieve in this composition. It's my favourite drawing that I completed in 2023!
Where it's been: This drawing has just been very recently completed, so it hasn't had a chance to visit any galleries yet, but I'm sure it will be on the move soon enough!
